The evening at Della Viti Wine Bar, hosted by the Rotary Club of Ames and Ames Morning Rotary, brought together around 30 Rotarians from across the district for excellent fellowship and, of course, a little wine.
Ames Reception Delivers Wine, Fellowship, and Foundation Success!

The evening at Della Viti Wine Bar, hosted by the Rotary Club of Ames and Ames Morning Rotary, brought together around 30 Rotarians from across the district for excellent fellowship and, of course, a little wine.
The gathering showcased meaningful moments and inspiring updates on our Foundation's work:
Major Donor Recognition: The Rotary Foundation recognized Matt Corwin from the Rotary Club of Waukee for achieving Major Donor Status. Congratulations, Matt!
- Foundation Insights: Attendees listened to powerful presentations, including PDG Steve Dakin speaking passionately about 'Our Rotary Foundation,' and Doyle Sanders from the Rotary Club of Des Moines??? highlighting the long-term impact of contributions to the Rotary Foundation Endowment Fund.
PolioPlus Power: PDG John Ockenfels shared exciting details about The Flight to End Polio and the recent Circle the Atlantic Flight, both aimed at raising money for PolioPlus and End Polio Now. In line with this energy, the Rotary Club of Ames announced a remarkable achievement: it raised over $7,000 for PolioPlus during October in honor of World Polio Day!
Every Rotarian Every Year: Assistant Governor Steve Schraderbacker demonstrated the collective power of our gifts, illustrating how our Every Rotarian Every Year donations of $100 make a vital difference across all seven of Rotary's Areas of Focus.
Also during the evening, Incoming 2026-27 District Governor, Bill Bruce, had exciting news for the district. He announced that the Rotary Club of Ames will host his District Conference in April of 2027! Bill sincerely thanked the club for "adopting" him and stepping up to take on this important event.
A big thank you to the local clubs for hosting this outstanding event. The Foundation Receptions continue to be a great way to celebrate our shared mission while having fun!
