Celebrate Community is a unique opportunity to amplify our collective impact by partnering across service organizations. When we work together, we make the world better.

Celebrate Community is a weeklong national event from September 14-20. This marks the fourth year of this collaboration among Kiwanis, Lions, Optimists, and Rotary clubs, but it’s the first time these clubs in Ames are coming together to participate. We also have an added bonus, as the Altrusa Club is partnering with us.

Celebrate Community offers a unique opportunity to amplify our impact by partnering across service organizations and engaging our youth programs. We have selected a project that addresses a need in our community. Each of our clubs will encourage members to collect FOOD ITEMS for the food pantries in Ames, and we will also be collecting TOILETRIES. Food items will be donated to MICA, Food at First, Bethesda, and the Salvation Army. Toiletry items will go to the Ames Community School AMES Center. The School District is also accepting donations of gift cards to Overflow Thrift Store so that families can purchase additional household items.

Each club will collect the items in its own way and then collectively bring them together on Wednesday, September 17th, at noon at Inis Grove Park—Walnut Shelter. Pizza will be provided as we sort the items by category and prepare them for delivery.

The Rotary Club of Ames asks members to bring their donations to our September 8th meeting.
Or join us at the park on September 17th.
